Skin

Skin is the membranous tissue forming the natural protective body covering and site of the sense of touch. It Consists of 3 layers; the epidermis, the dermis and the fat layer. A very important organ of the body that performs the following functions: regulation of body temperature, provide sensory perceptions, acts as the first line of defense against bacterial, alien, fungal or other substance invasion. Our skin is the largest organ of the body.
The Different Types of Skin are oily, dry (Xerosis), and combination (Normal to Oily, Dry to Oily).
Xerosis is the word for dry skin. We all have a natural oil outside layer over our skin produced by the skin oil glands. If this oil is removed, then the skin becomes dry which can lead to cracking, which can lead to inflammation. Xerosis is usually a long-term problem that recurs often, especially in the winter. Oily skin usually has a lot of shine to it and the pores are generally enlarged. It is more prone to pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads than other skin types and is coarser in texture. Combination of Normal to Oily and combination of Dry to Oily are the two other skin types.
